The direct meaning of KABUSE-CHA is “covered tea”. KABUSE-CHA is a kind of SEN-CHA, at the same time, a kind of GYOKURO. KABUSE-CHA is grown by covering the tealeaves like GYOKURO. However, in case of GYOKURO, it is covered by 70 – 95 % of shading for 20 to 30 days prior to harvest, on the other hand, KABUSE-CHA is grown by 50 – 70% of shading for 14 days only. In short, KABUSE-CHA is a product of simpler and easier method of GYOKURO.





Thus, KABUSE-CHA has the middle character of GYOKURO and SEN-CHA. The taste of KABUSE-CHA is also the middle of GYOKURO and SEN-CHA. If you extract the KABUSE-CHA with 50-60 C of not so hot water for 90 sec to 2 min, the sweetness of the green tea spread into your mouse. If you extract the KABUSE-CHA with 70 – 80 C of hot water for 60 sec, you can taste strong taste with bitterness.

In the market, KABUSE-CHA is sometimes sold as GYOKURO, and sometimes sold as first class SEN-CHA. The price of KABUSE-CHA is usually not so expensive unlike GYOKURO, and the taste is usually better than SEN-CHA, so the cost performance is high, also good for gift.
